It’s a new year – a fresh start. Many, as we all should, have set health goals for the new year. Failure to plan is a plan to fail.2009 Reflections
During 2009, 2 people I know were diagnosed with cancer, one friend died from cancer, one friend had a heart attach and at least 2 patients developed diabetes. I suspect that you had similar news. During the same year, we had patients who lost 15 to 30 pounds, are healthier, fitter, got off blood pressure, cholesterol, heart burn, and a lot of pain medications.
How are you going to perform in 2010?
How will you know how you are performing if you do not have a way to measure?

Body markers and measurements like waist measurement, waist to hip ratio, BMI, percentage of body fat and muscle, visceral fat (fat in the belly)are an easy and accurate way of assessing health status. These simple measurements, when interpreted correctly, are a way of knowing if you are getting healthier or sicker and measure your risk of getting diabetes, cancer, stroke and heart disease. (These diseases combined account for 75 percent of death in the US.) In fact, these body markers are more accurate for predicting these diseases and mortality (death) than cholesterol measurements, blood pressure and most lab tests performed in the annual physicals.Wellness done for you!
To simplify all this, we have prepared a health assessment to take all these measurements and more.

Wellness Assessment ($65.00)
1- A detailed review of your health and wellness status
2- Body composition analysis, ratios and measurements
3- Strength measurement
4- Three day food recall – diet composition analysis – calorie measurement
5- Life style assessment (exercise – stress – habits)

This assessment should be done twice yearly. This way you will have a concrete way of knowing are you getting better or worse year in and year out. You can’t wait until you have high cholesterol, blood pressure, diabetes or a heart attack.

We have also selected certain lab tests that have been shown in the research literature to be accurate in predicting diseases and death. These are different from the tests that determine if you are sick or not. They give us a number by which we can tell where you are on the wellness scale.
The labs will be done through LabCorp either by orders of your physician or as part of our health assessment.

We put all this together and combined this with concrete action steps to get you healthy and now we have the 6 Months to Wellness Program.
